AI governance is now a brand-safety function, not admin

Europe just gave the AI industry a reprieve, deferring its toughest rules by years. Reading that as permission to relax would be the expensive mistake. A company was already held liable for what its chatbot said, in a country with no AI law at all. Governing your AI is not compliance paperwork. It is protecting the brand from things it now says in your name.

Europe blinked. The liability did not.

The EU pushed its high-risk AI rules out to 2027. But a court already made a company pay for its chatbot's false promise, with no AI statute involved, and around half of AI adopters have had something go wrong. Only about a quarter check all their AI output before it ships. The reprieve is a trap.
